HMG's Paint Away taking to the field

Manchester-based HMG Paints has developed a unique, waterborne, temporary grass marking paint for reproducing promotional signage at sports grounds.

Called Paint Away, it has been created in partnership with associate company HMG Coatings London and has already been supplied for use at Six Nations rugby matches at Twickenham, Murrayfield and the Stade de France, as well as the Tsunami Appeal exhibition game.

Insoluble in water once it is dry and dissolved with a special remover, Paint Away can also be used for temporary white lining at multi-sports stadiums and as an anti-graffiti finish and sacrificial coating.

The product was originally created for a customer which had devised patented templates for painted on-pitch signs that assume a 3D perspective when viewed through a TV camera.

For the same client, HMG London also provided coatings for painting sports surfaces at last year's Olympic and Paralympic Games, with the company's water-based LMP enamel and single-pack Fleet Polyurethane being specified for a wide variety of surfaces including running tracks, concrete, tarmac, marble, Astroturf, carpet, wood and rubber matting.
